Bailiff
A court officer responsible for keeping order in the courtroom, escorting jurors, and ensuring the safety of everyone present. Often a uniformed sheriff's deputy or marshal.
The bailiff is the person in uniform standing or sitting near the front of the courtroom. They handle the practical security work: calling the courtroom to order when the judge enters, escorting the jury in and out, and removing anyone who's disrupting the proceeding.
In federal courts, this role is filled by U.S. Marshals. In state courts, it's typically a county sheriff's deputy.
