Juror
An individual member of a jury. Jurors are selected from the community through jury duty notices. Their job is to listen to the case, weigh the evidence, and decide the facts.
Being a juror is one of the few civic duties that requires real, in-person participation. Jurors are paid a small daily stipend (usually well below minimum wage) and are expected to follow strict rules during the trial: no looking up information online, no discussing the case with anyone outside the jury, and no forming opinions before all the evidence is in.
Jurors don't have to know any law. The judge explains what the law requires through "jury instructions" before deliberation begins.
